Lloyd Paxton Tribute

Remembering a Legend – 12/12/1949 – 03/07/2026

Longtime UASG/3M Certified Member Lloyd Paxton passed away after a long battle with cancer on 3/7/2026.

Lloyd has been a member of the UASG since 2000 and will be greatly missed. He was widely known for his expert vinyl installation skills. He used those skills to train and test 3M Certified applicants for over a decade, starting back in 2000. Lloyd was also a founding member of the UASG and received the UASG Lifetime Achievement Award in 2025.

Love and support to Sharon and the Paxton family, Lloyd was so important for our industry, and we owe him a lot, but now our thoughts are going out to his family. Sorry to hear this news and I will pass it along to our team. -shad interligi | REAL HIT MEDIA

I remember the phone calls to Lloyd in the early days of the UASG Cert process, and even during the evolution of materials (pre- comply type). He came to my house in Utah and did my on-site verification process. I chose a rather large decal to “Impress” with him, and instead of using the method of hinging, I did what we did normally on our fleet installs. I peeled the entire decal and went to work. He replied, “thought for sure you were gonna have a train wreck”. This was before vinyl that could be installed with a hand and glove. I asked him if he needed to see my “office paperwork process”, he said “you’ve been doing this as long as me, so it must be working.” It was refreshing and hard to find people like him who understand the process from an “on hands” situation rather than the “ I was taught this in school or video”. RIP Lloyd and prayers for your loved ones. Such a pioneer in this industry. – Marty Flood / Waymire Decaling

I met Lloyd in 1982; we began to work together in 1984 and partnered together in 1984 and 1985. We would go to work together daily, and we handled incredible programs together, the 1984 Olympics signage, SCE 4500 vehicles in 10 months. Lloyd was an incredible installer, so talented, we would be doing 1-inch corrugated trailers for weeks and he was as smooth as could be, perfect, not a wrinkle, bubble or a corrugation left up. During these old days, we did all rivets by hand; we would get these Great Danes 48 ft with 4500 rivets and wow what workout. He showed me so much in our years together and had this great attitude about work, life and family. I was introduced to his family, wife and daughters. To watch Lloyd, get recognized for his great work and be so involved with UASG makes me and I am sure many others very proud to have been a part of his life. Lloyd was a highly skilled martial artist and worked out very regularly back then, being a black belt and an instructor, incredible discipline that I so admired. We laughed, we shared stories and we loved our industry, we have lost a great person. – Kim Magraw,

Lloyd Paxton – WORLDWIDE INSTALLATIONS

I started installing graphics in 1969 when this industry was in its infancy. I have obviously seen many changes and innovations over the years. I feel privileged to be a “founding father” of the UASG and am proud of the organization’s coming of age and the foothold it has on the industry.

I started my own business in 1975 and it has changed forms many times over the past 39 years, from starting out as being a one-man show to having numerous
employees and a very large crew, to now, with it back at the one-man show stage (with my trusty assistant, my wife, Sharon, by my side).

I have worked on many interesting and large well known projects from the 1984 Olympics held in Los Angeles to numerous installations for national companies
such ARCO, AT&T and Disneyland. One of my newer customers has immersed me in the rough texture application field, having completed more than 75 installations at high schools throughout southern California on the outside of school buildings.

I thoroughly enjoy my work and hope to be out there “sticking stickers” for many years to come.
