Wrapify Receives Capital Investment from Avery Dennison

Investment Expected to Accelerate Wrapify’s Expansion in U.S. Market

SAN DIEGO, CA (March 8, 2017)– Wrapify, the technology-based car wrap company, has secured a $3 million venture capital investment from Avery Dennison Corporation (NYSE: AVY), a Fortune 500 company with leading global positions in graphics solutions, labeling and packaging material and radio frequency identification (RFID).

The investment in Wrapify is expected to accelerate its footprint in leading cities around the U.S. Wrapify pays drivers to wrap their cars in ads while using the Wrapify app to enable brand owners to track their vehicles in real time.

Wrapify CEO James Heller, recently named the top young marketing talent on Forbes’ prestigious “30 Under 30” list, said, “Our goal for Wrapify is to reach the top 50 US cities by end of year, and Avery Dennison’s investment will spur that. It also helps Wrapify expand our already formidable sales force, and broaden our technology and operations teams.”

Wrapify’s platform has been embraced by many of the nation’s best-known brands, including Bud Light, eBay, Lyft and Petco.

“There’s never been anything like Wrapify in the advertising marketplace,” says James Moorhead, CMO of pay-per-mile car insurance company Metromile. “They are revolutionizing the outdoor advertising industry, and we’re proud to be an early adopter of this exciting platform.”

The investment comes as Avery Dennison and Wrapify have been working together to develop a vehicle-wrapping film technology best-suited for Wrapify’s needs: a short-term, easy to install and remove film for the transit oriented out-of-home advertising industry.

“I’ve been continuously impressed by Avery Dennison’s dedication to excellence and drive to deliver what’s best for their customers,” said Heller. “I am confident they are the right partner to help spur Wrapify’s next phase of growth.”

“Avery Dennison prides itself on identifying the most exciting and innovative new ideas and businesses in our category, and Wrapify is a standout,” said Bill Podojil, Senior Business Director, Avery Dennison Graphics Solutions North America.  “We’re impressed by its concept, its product, its team, and its significant success in less than two years. We see this as a great opportunity to extend our leadership in car wrapping.”

3M Introduces Six New Colors Including Three Color Flip Films in the 3M™ Wrap Film Series 1080

All six additions will be featured at the 2016 SGIA Expo and the 2016 SEMA Show.

St. Paul, Minn. – (Sept. 14, 2016) – 3M is proud to introduce six new additions to the flagship 3M™ Wrap Film Series 1080 line, including three revolutionary color flip options featuring Gloss Flip Electric Wave, Satin Flip Caribbean Shimmer and Satin Flip Glacial Frost.  Along with the three color flip options, the expansion of 3M Wrap Film Series 1080 also includes Gloss Storm Gray, Satin Gold Dust Black and Satin Frozen Vanilla.

The trio of color flip shades, Electric Wave, Caribbean Shimmer and Glacial Frost, exhibit lively polychromatic effects that create unique, multi-color dimensions that shift under different viewing angles and lighting. These iridescent films refract vibrant hues of purple, deep teal and soft blue, creating an invigorating prismatic finish for fresh new vehicle wraps and graphics.

“For graphic installers, nothing is more important than the wrap films and vinyl products that help bring their visions to life, which is why 3M is pleased to introduce these six additions,” said Janelle Pizzi, product marketer, 3M Commercial Solutions Division.

The expansion of 3M Wrap Film Series 1080 also includes Gloss Storm Gray, Satin Gold Dust Black and Satin Frozen Vanilla. These additions bolster Series 1080 with a unique twist on classic, neutral tones, offering installers the ability to capture beautiful textured sparkles with the Black and Vanilla Satin finishes, and a vibrant sheen with the Gloss Storm Gray.

3M Wrap Film Series 1080 is made in 60”-wide rolls, so installers can easily cover vehicle sections without seams. The new color flip options possess excellent dimensional stability, repositionability, high durability, and permanent adhesive. WRAPPERS CALL FOR HELP – Louisiana flooding care drive

LA_Flooding_2016

For those of you watching the news you should be aware of the massive flooding that has hit large areas of Louisiana.  The storms and resulting deluge of rain has created a disaster area that is being reported as the worst in the USA since Hurricane Katrina.  According to the Red Cross the Louisiana flooding “is likely the worst natural disaster in the United States since 2012’s Superstorm Sandy,” and response efforts are “expected to cost at least $30 million.”  At last report the projections are that over 60,000 homes across 20 parishes have been damaged and 13 people are reported dead.

In the wrapping community we are all very tied to our local communities and feel strongly about helping our neighbors and fellow shop owners.  … this is the time to reach out if you can.

We are calling for assistance from all of you to help out with efforts to get emergency supplies into the area.  Kevin Kempf with PG Nola based in New Orleans has been blessed to avoid direct damage; however, he has taken it upon himself to put together  assistance trips into the damaged areas to help the local shops.  He is asking for a variety of items to load up in the shop truck “Big Bird” and start delivering on Saturday August 27th.

All donations should be sent to PG NOLA located at 320 Madison Street Gretna, LA 70053

We are looking for shop supplies (squeegees, blades, towels, films, tools etc.) to directly help the affected wrappers get back on their feet.  We are also looking for general daily living items to help the folks as well (toiletries….cleaning supplies…baby diapers…food…TOYS for the kids etc.).  Some folks have already taken it upon themselves to purchase items on Amazon.com to be delivered directly to PG Nola (great idea Chris Lee).  Sending gift cards, straight up donations to help purchase more items on the ground and volunteers in the area will certainly be appreciated as well.

Kevin and EZ have quite a job ahead of them so let’s do what we can to help!

WRAPSCON 2016 crowns new wrap master in 3M American Wrap Masters Competition

Indianapolis, IN USA was host to the 2nd Annual WRAPSCON event this past week.  A dedicated portion of the NBM B.I.G. show, the WRAPSCON wrap show featured film suppliers, multiple demonstrations, training sessions from industry masters and, of course, the 3M American Wrap Masters competition.

Organized and MC’ed by Dirk Moebes of Mr-Clipart.com the wrap competition started off very strong with 24 competitors in 6 rounds of 4.  The challenge for this competition was working with the new 3M 1080 films in a color change installation environment.  Wrapping doors, pillars and handles as thoroughly and cleanly as possible was the name of the game.  Later rounds added doors, mirrors and second layers of secondary colors using Knifeless Tape to cleanly and safely trim film without risking a blade on the paint surface.

The competitors were gradually whittled down over three days until the final two wrappers were left standing.  Mr. Preston Jordan (Owner of StatusPro) and Mr. John Duever (owner of Vinyl Images and developer of The Wrap App) worked hard to earn their way into the final round.  These two competitors really treated the crowd to a final that came right down to the wire.  As time ran out, both Preston and John were neck-and-neck, on their knees, within seconds of each other, attempting to wrap the final handle to complete the final round.  The judges called out to “drop your tools” and the spectators were left with no way to tell who would come out on top.

After the judges (Chad Huhman, Rob Ivers and Marcio Oliveira) tallied their score sheets and compared notes the final result was called for the winner John Deuver.

Congratulations to the WRAPSCON 2016 winner of the 3M American Wrap Masters… Mr. John Duever!
